My wife and I lived in Grand Rapids from 1979-1983, and one of the restaurants in town, which we only ate at once, was The Castle. It was in an old stone castle that I think was built by a lumber baron.

It must have been on Cherry Street or someplace like that in Heritage Hill (we lived on Morris). It's so long ago that I don't even remember what the food was like.

Does anyone know if that's still there?

We also used to go to Les Idees, mainly for drinks, quite often, but I am curious about the Castle.

Thanks.

Yes, it’s still there! It’s been a series of dentists’ offices…it’s currently Stonecastle Dentistry.

Thanks. Pretty wild metamorphosis from a restaurant to a dentists' office.

Oh, and I see that the practice was founded by Juli Wemmer. My wife and I used to go to Scott and Juli when their practice was in Eastown, the same building as the movie theater. It was a little odd to be in the dentist chair and smelling the popcorn from the theater. We liked both of them.
