Since I'm currently between jobs, I figured this would be a great time to do what I've always wanted to do and move out of East Texas. I'd love to move to a better climate, but I've decided I'm just going to shoot for DFW (Dallas/Fort Worth in case it's not obvious) until I'm in a better position for a more distance relocation.

Here's the deal. I've yet to get any responses on jobs there. I'm wondering if it's because of my out-of-town address, even though it's not very far. It takes about two hours to get to the nearest part of Dallas so it wouldn't be very difficult to apply in person or go to an interview as long as it's not terribly early.

I was considering getting one of those fake addresses through UPS and just telling them I'm in the process of moving. Think that would increase my chances of a job offer or would it just delay their rejection? I'm up for doing whatever I can to increase my odds but I also don't want to make it so that I waste trips there to interviews just to be told no.

There are pack-and-ships where you can rent a mailbox. They have a street address. That's what I would suggest. Problem is, are you going to change your cell phone over so it's the same area code as that area?

I don't want to change the phone number until I actually move in case I end up not being able to. However this area code extends to very near Dallas (in fact, when I was a little kid, we had the same area code as Dallas) so they may not think too much of it.
