Hi folks We will be leaving Erie, PA area on a trip with the next stay of anytime being Chicago area, the question is do we go to Fort Wayne as a nice stop for a few days, or should we look at Toledo, or any other areas, (large or small) to relax for a few days, but have things to do?

With other stops for Gas, Eating and Stretching our legs we try to keep the driving times down to 5 to 6, maybe 7 hours, which means Chicago and well within the time table we work with. We don't have an agenda that is etched in stone, so seeing other parts of the country is a good thing.

Some of the things we try to get in at our stops are:

- Cheese
- Yarn
- Bakeries
- Botanical Gardens
- Museums
- Coffee Roasters
- Loose Leaf Tea Shops
- Walking Paths (inner city, river walks…)
- Points of interest
- Candy / Chocolate Shops
- Fun Downtowns

The things I mentioned in your thread regarding Toledo hold true for this. Sauder Village is nearly as close to Ft Wayne as it is to Toledo. In addition, there are some other attractions in NW Ohio/NE Indiana that are very interesting. Check out the CCD museum in Auburn and many Amish attractions in the Shipshewana area.
