I mostly wear shorts from about now thru October, just for comfort, despite our mild climate, but they are all cargo shorts. I have never worn jeans shorts and never will. They are meant for women to wear (Daisy Dukes). I must say, with the torn jeans that the young women all wear these days, there is plenty of raw materials for making cutoffs.
I don't mind men's "jorts" as long as they actually fit and aren't a saggy baggy mess. IMO, the greater sin is cargo shorts, especially when saggy baggy and weighed down with a phone, wallet, keys, multitool, and 50 other things etc.
SO has the shape for fairly short shorts. No denim but Granite Cloth.
