This may be a ridiculous question, but I have to ask!
I just used a recumbent elliptical at the gym. Really liked it. One of the options was a programmed workout that varied the resistance, cued to speed up, and sometimes said to push arms, while other times said to pull. ??? I understand you can start by pushing or pulling, but once you have pushed out with one arm, don’t you have to pull in with the other? So I don’t see that it is all pushing or all pulling. I tried to research it. All I can get is maybe you focus more on one or the other?
I also can’t wrap my mind around reverse pedaling, another cue. Again, you may start by bringing one leg in towards you, instead of away, but then ultimately the leg is going out, but supposedl6 it works different muscles.
Yeah with most elipticals you are pushing and pulling with each movement so that doesn't seem right. I will say reversing the direction does, in fact, use different muscles and is a good strategy vs. doing the same movement over and over again for 30+ minutes.
