A 'paperwork' power grab in the Pennsylvania house of representatives has a Democrat being 'secretly' sworn in by a house clerk as speaker

. Who has the majority is in dispute. A Democrat representative died before the election but was still voted in. 2 other Democrats have resigned. The Republicans claim they have a majority. Now 3 special elections have been called for to fill the empty seats.

Not really all that interesting when you think about it.

One person is resigning to become the Lt Governor, the other won a seat in the US House.

State constitution states that whoever won the most seats becomes the majority party, regardless if all members are sworn in, the same is true in the US House, thats how McCarthy has already been elected majority leader.

Your link does not state she was sworn in as Speaker, it says majority leader. so same as the U.S. House.

Demoncrats are cheating!? Say it ain't so! I am just SHOCKED! She should be impeached and thrown out. She MIGHT have legally gotten the speakers seat in January but since she has decided to break the rules throw her out.

Again, the article doesnt say what the OP claims.

So everything she did was legal now.

I read the article. It isn't legal. GOP controls the Pa house.

Should numbers used include most recent election result or the physical actual current numbers/majority?

But as the GOP noted she wasn't even elected majority leader she declared herself the boss. They also want clerk fired because she facilitated the swearing in ceremony.

Again, the PA constitution states the majority leader in the House is who won the most seats, not who has the most people sworn in , the same as the US house.

So yes, what she did was legal, no different than what Kevin McCarthy has done in the US house, you just dont like it because you dont like Democrats.

She is the current minority leader, and she then is infact minority leader until she is voted out as such, so phrasing it as "declared" is disingenuous.

This is just a poor and desperate attempt to whip up yet another conspiracy that doesn't exist. It's beyond tired.

Rules did'nt matter when PA violated its own voting laws. Why claim legalities now?
