The only good natural foods grocery in EP I'm aware of is on the Westside -- Sprouts.

I found it not only interesting but quite telling that when Whole Foods was looking to open stores in El Paso (I forget the details honestly) they popped El Paso into their viability spreadsheet and discovered that there was no reason to even consider further considering it. I find it amazing that even HEB won't open up there.

Unfortunately, I have no source to link (wish I did). I remember it when it happened. My office was on Thunderbird, half a block from the only organicish store in town (no idea what it's called now). The story I had heard from a very reliable real estate source there at the time was that Whole Foods was preparing a bid on that store to turn it into a Whole Foods (here's where I admit the details I'm sure are different from my memory) but that they pulled out after tossing El Paso (and specifically 79912) into their viability spreadsheet.

If the story is complete fabrication, I apologize.

Sprouts will be doubling it's size and moving to the old RoomStore location on Sunland Park Drive (beside K Mart). West El Paso's Sprouts to uproot for new site - El Paso Times
