UUUUG-A-LEEEEEE.

Of all the buildings on 16th street mall, some of them gorgeous - and some of them horrifyingly destroyed long ago for urban development - this block disaster is plunked right in the middle of them all. Every time I look at it I feel like someone has shoved broken glass in my eyes.

I don't care for that building, either, although I'm curious to know what the upper floors look like. If you go into the gift shop on the ground floor, you can see steps and escalators that are blocked off and hidden behind merchandise.

There have been MANY architectural sins committed in this country in the name of modernization, the subject of this thread is one of them.

Almost as gross as The Spruce Tree Center on one of Saint Paul, MN's busiest intersections. EEK!!!

Upstairs in Cottrell's...I think that's where they had additional suits and where they did fittings. I had a friend who worked there. He was from the South and thought the store was hilarious. He worked with this old guy who drank a lot during his shift. So I don't hate the bldg so much, because almost every time I walk by I think of what it used to be.

I've been to the new one twice... and it was a mess! Hot and crowded. But they have lots of great stuff for reasonable prices.

As for the Cottrell bldg., I don't hate it. It adds a little "je ne sais quoi" to downtown.
