I suppose home business users or certain small companies might still use it, especially if they are also using POTS.
I haven't worked at a place that uses one since that one company that was using Hylafax (debt consolidation) and boy, were they using it.

Last time I used fax was to send my resume when I applied at my first IT job!

I've used faxzero.com. Zero problems. Of course, free faxes are limited in the number of sheets, and so forth.
