Hi all, another Northerner (just outside Syracuse, NY) looking to move south and SC seems to be where we'd like to land. We've put a lot of time (and visits) into the Bluffton area and really do like the area and the 55+ communities (specifically Sun City) but am having a bit of a hard time finding a place so we've opened up our search a little bit and are considering communities on lakes (as opposed to being close to the coast). One of the places we're looking at is Savannah Lakes Village and I thought I would hit up the forum for some thoughts on the community, the area, etc. We like the thought of being by Lake Thurmond and we're not true "big city" people but I'm concerned about the remote reputation of McCormick. I'm hearing it's :30 - :45 minutes away from a city with the typical big box stores (Walmart, Home Depot, supermarkets, etc.) and I'm wondering just how remote it is. What about healthcare (i.e. hospitals, Dr's offices, dentists, etc.), restaurants or activities? We're a healthy, active couple and, while I can appreciate some love the slow, quiet life, I'm wondering if it would be a bigger culture shock than I'm anticipating? All thoughts, questions and comments are appreciated! Thanks, everyone!
(And if I should have this in a different forum than the SC/Columbia category, please let me know that and I'll move it over.)
Thank you, Brandon. I'll give that a shot as well. Appreciate the point.
