Forest Acres is on the radar of hot national retailers right now. The redevelopment of the current Cardinal Newman campus could be interesting.

A parcel of land between Percival and Forest Dr was cleared out recently and seems to be under development. Anyone know what is going in there?

I'm highly sure it was on that board in front of it on forest drive.

Thanks, I'll have to take a closer look. I thought the sign just had a developer/construction company on it. I didn't get a good look though.

It might've been that type of board. IF it's gonna b a new building then probably a gas station, fast food, or small retailer.

I got a better look at the sign today and it is for this company, Columbia Development Columbia Development 803-782-5666 Their site doesn't say much, but I would guess along the same lines as you that it is probably a fast food or restaurant of some type.

Columbia Development Corporation is the organization that promotes and steers economic development in the city. That would be the only reason the sign has their name on it, I think.

Site is being cleared off of Highway 6 in Irmo (heading towards Ballentine), next to Woodley's Garden Center for a, "Shopping strip center for retail or misc". I was always wondering when they were going to put something there, as it was a good sized plot of land with several subdivisions within a few miles. They just now started clearing land.

Sprawl at its worst. We don't need a strip mall there, what we need is infrastructure. They keep adding BS W/O adding roads or lanes, the traffic sux. Nobody in the entire region knows squat about planning.
