That and all the fires and smoke that come with it anymore...

KRDO posted up a graphic the other day that summed it up quite well. Since the red flag warning era started in 2010, we have had more red flags days this year than in any year since the start of this record keeping. 101 days was the total when I was watching. We are only 134 days in to this year.

That's a lot. The persistent dry wind is certainly a deterrent. I don't miss that.

Good idea to review your escape plans. And... "run with endurance the race that is set before us"

This spring's wind is significantly stronger than normal in my recent trips to very fire prone areas (No and So CA)

Winds have already wreaked spring fire havoc in my TX a home (very rare) and now NM.

"We" (earthling's) have little (none) control over our very powerful and changing Mother Nature.

In an instant, things change! (Remembering a very rare Colorado tornado in 1962 that I watched destroy our neighborhood) + these...

Then there are the 'normal' winds on front range.

At age 9, after one howling night, we awoke to see our neighbor's brand new 'modular' home was GONE, only the floor remained intact. (this forced some design changes in that industry...)

Let's hope this snowstorm ends the red flag days. The snow was just what we needed, moisture laden! My son recently got a smoker and he's hardly been able to use it.

Sick and tired of the wind? Yes.
Sick and tired of the wildfire danger? Yes
Sick and tired of the housing market (high prices and lack of supply)? Yes

So much so that after 3+ years here we are moving away next month. We are "over" Colorado, at least we are over living in Colorado Springs. Lovely state, but there are too many people competing for housing, elbow room, outdoor space...just too overcrowded for this southern boy.

Good luck to you all.

No way and expect the fire bans all summer too- how long have you lived here?

Hopefully fireworks will be banned this year too, last year was awful.

Yep. This isn't going to change anything any time soon, and I'm not counting on fireworks for the 4th (except for the local idiots who think it's okay to ignore the ban). It's raining heavily right now in Manitou, and it's nice, but not nearly enough for me to stop worrying about another Waldo Canyon.

I would not expect the fire bans to be lifted unless precipitation were to continue regularly for weeks, which is highly unlikely.
