which homeowner insurance company in Eastern Caroline does not nickel and dime policyholders when something happens?

having heard more than a few horror stories, I'm questioning whether or not I picked the right company a company of years ago. I don't mind paying a little more, if the insurance company really takes care of its customers..... my currently policy is up soon, so I've started looking around....

any recommendations appreciated!

Like it or not, companies are in business to make money, not "take care of their customers". We have never filed a claim and have a high deductible. We have Universal Property and Casualty.
I suggest using a broker who can shop around. Ours is Brad Sizemore.

I have heard that USAA is good (caveat is it is only available for military & veterans).
For non-military folks, I suggest you try Erie Insurance.

Had Allstate for over 30 years until recently. Never a claim. Increases started about 5 years ago with several hundred dollar increases each year both car and home insurance. 2 years ago I changed car insurance to Travelers, however I could not find home coverage that was reasonable so that I could bundle coverage until yesterday. I received my renewal for home insurance from Allstate that increased almost $300. I did find decent insurance with a company under Farmers, an umbrella company called "Foremost" Still was not able to bundle both car and home.
