Great news for Goldsboro, the city received a 10 million TIGER grant this will allow the city to complete it's streetscape project which includes reconstructing the entire Center St area with wider sidewalks, three roundabouts, bicycle lanes, new trees and the utilities will be placed underground. Also the Walnut streetscape will get underway from Walnut and Center all the way to Carolina St to our train depot Union Station where our intermodual bus transportation center will be built for our Gateway bus system , this center will include offices,and shoppes. All theses projects break ground Aug. 13 2014. Also several new retail projects are underway ,coming to the city is a new Holiday Inn, a Courtyard Marriot , Texas Roadhouse, Panera Bread, Dick's Sporting Goods, Mattress Firm, PetSmart, Smithfield BBQ, and a new State Credit Union also three new restaurants have opened or will be opening in downtown Goldsboro, Ed's, Railhouse 1842 and Taphouse 108 they blend well with Torero's, the Thai Garden, The Laughing Owl and The Flying Shamrock pub all of which are already estalished in the cities core.
....no offense but I can't wait for the Hy70 bypass to get built around... so where are all those new restaurants and stores going to be built? Out towards 581 west of the city? between Gboro and Pton?

I agree. I can't wait for the bypass around Havelock as well.
Today Wayne Co. Officials broke ground for two new middle schools in the Goldsboro Wayne Co area the two new schools will relieve overcrowding in southern Wayne County, also the state is hoping to open the new Cherry Hospital a new regional psychiatric facility with three hundred beds in 2015 in west Goldsboro.

Moved out of Goldsboro and NC last year. As a native eastern NC'er best thing we have done. Proud to be from NC but with the way things are there these days family is better off elsewhere
A new sporting goods store has just opened in Goldsboro, Dunham's has opened at the Goldsboro Promenade, also the Xenubian Tea House and Natural food store has opened in Downtown.
Officials on Seymour Johnson AFB broke ground today on a new state-of-the-art medical center, the 106,000 square ft 53 million dollar facility will be home to the 4th Medical Wing construction starts Jan. 2015
