I'm looking for recommendations for an oceanfront vacation home rental in Wilmington, preferably one with a pool. It needs to sleep 12 people. I want to put a deposit down for the last week of June 2012. Something with a game room/pool table would also be great as there will be 5 teenage boys among us (and an 11 and 21 year old - also boys - too many boys!). Any recommendations/advice would be greatly appreciated!

By the way, I hope everyone in the coastal areas are faring as best as possible under the current conditions.

I did a quick search on Craigs list. The first one I saw that sleeps 12 runs around 6300 a week!!!! Those rates were for August and September of the current year.
There were a few cheaper ones, but wow! If I win the lottery I need to buy one that I can rent out!

I didn't realize that. Do you know of anything in Wrightsville? I'm trying to find a place in whatever coastal area is closest to the Wilmington airport. Two of the teens coming with us are flying into that airport and we plan on picking them up on our way. I've never done this before (I'm a New York transplant) so I'm not familiar with the area. I just want to plan a nice vacation for everyone!

Try the VRBO site, Vacation Rentals by Owner. Otherwise Google "Wrightsville Beach rentals", and there will be dozens of commercial sites. BTW, the Wilmington area may not have power restored yet.

Check the VRBO list # 248805 . Not ocean-front but $3000 week, or $500 nightly in your time-frame. The phone number is local.

VRBO and "Homeaway" are good sites. Wrightsville Beach is lovely, and I adore Wilmington. I used to live there and have family there now. If Wrightsville looks to be out of your budget, you might want to look at Topsail beach or Carolina Beach.

Default Holden Beach is the best beach in North Carolina!

Since there are no recent posts, let me tell everyone that my all t time favorite beach is Holden Beach. All the other beaches are overcrowded, dirty or way too expensive to go to. Wrightsville is a nightmare to get to and forget about parking because it's non-existent. Carolina Beach is even harder to get to than Wrightsville. Oak Island is ok, but the water is not that pretty because it's near the cape fear river run off. Ocean Isle has now become the extension of Myrtle Beach and getting way too commercialized. Holden Beach is the only beach left that hasn't been spoiled by tourism and commercial businesses. Holden Beach hands down!
