Uggggh! I heard from Roger, Owner of Ignotz. Festa Pasta Vino is NOT taking place this year!!

Well, like last year, I'll have to go there next weekend and make my OWN party!

I may do Highwood Fest THIS weekend!

I hope all are well, and having fun!!! You all deserve it..

So what says you, white progressives? Here's your guide to make "change," though it would be much more beneficial if you move to one of the areas where you're uncomfortable getting off on the highway exit.

BRU67, nice article!!! Thank you for sharing...

P.S. I took the kids to Ignotz for Father's Day (in that scary southside neighborhood), and since Festa Pasta Vino was cancelled again, we all made our own fest; and we had a great time.

It was beautiful. And me being the outgoing guy I am, struck up a conversation with 2 different fellows there and we all got together for a drink and a toast to Fatherhood... and not that it matters to ME about always throwing skin color in a story, but one man was Black and the other was Mexican; and NO ONE cared about the color of skin. It was just 3 PEOPLE celebrating life. The way it SHOULD be!!!

My bike clubs ride to Pierogi Fest, though with the spiking crime I'm not sure about riding through the southeast side (South Shore) or even the loop.

MSchemist80, any other fests this weekend that you and your bike group could ride to?

Does anyone know if Pride Parade is on Sunday? I usually stop by to watch the parade. But this year someone from my Milwaukee Bicycle group ( we jokingly call ourselves The Spinning Wheel bicycle gang) is hosting a party, so I'll not be in Chicago this weekend.

I wish you all a great, safe, and healthy time; wherever you go!!

Any self-respecting MC is its own security, unless I completely misunderstand you here.

jfre81, maybe our Chemist friend implied a BICYCLE group; and not an MC??

Either way, his group should align with my Spinning Wheels gang!

For biking to Pierogi Fest, usually most years I'd take a Metra Electric South Chicago branch train to 93rd Street(last stop on that branch), and then bike the rest of the way down to there. Past Calumet Park, there is a bike path you can use(going past the yacht club, where from there it becomes a bike trail instead of a little used street) past the site of the old State Line Power Plant and Horseshoe Casino, into NW Indiana.

I had biked through the eastern part of South Shore before(not too far west of the lakefront), and was fine. I don't know if I'd bike through there at night, though. Also one year when I narrowly missed catching a South Chicago branch Metra Electric train, took a mainline Electric train to 91st, then biked east on 93rd Street(which both doesn't have too much traffic, is an encouraged street for biking, and even goes by the site where Finkl Steel relocated to) to South Chicago, then used my normal biking route to get over to Pierogifest.

Yes bicycle groups. We also do corn fest in Deerfield and Dekalb, and Taste of Serbia at the orthodox church in Mettawa I believe Old School Rd and Bradley. That one is in late August.
