Can't help but think a good chunk of people here would be happier if after the Naval Base shut down in the 90s the city never managed to get its feet back under it and it just sort of died.... or even worse we become like Myrtle Beach

I even just now added to my post on Nextdoor, saying, "Charlestonians just really don't want this place to grow. I get it now," and got an immediate 'like'.

I added the comment “I think I’m the sole Charleston resident who likes that it’s growing” and got an immediate positive reaction.

There are two types of pain. Growth pains and dying pains. Charleston suffers from growing pains.

If anyone is looking for an east coast, dead beat beach town and all the scum that it attracts, look no further than Panama City, FL.

Back to the topic, please stop discussing that trans/gay nonsense here. Charleston not the same, potholes remain everywhere, roads in horrible condition, some things are the same. Still haven't enlarged the roads to catch up with the massive increase in population, no infrastructure improvements. Some things never change.
