Went back and read it again. So many names were listed over the course of 5 pages, it was easy to forget/miss.

Christmastime, back in the 1990s, on the Mezzanine that ran around the perimeter one story up from the lobby of One Workd Trade Center--

A coworker and I were the last to leave the office and head to our holiday party. We were about to exit the building when we saw a small crowd had gathered, and looked to see what was going on.

A sign said as one of a series of readings by celebrities for the holiday season, Lauren Bacall would be that evening's guest reader at 5 p.m., and that's what time it was.

She was escorted to a platform at the front of the crowd, wearing a beautiful wool brown and tan checked blazer and beige wool slacks. My friend and I stayed and listened to THAT VOICE read Truman Capote's "A Christmas Memory". Afterward, we left for our party with tears in our eyes, but grateful for the serendipity of our timing.

And now, that is a Christmas memory of mine.

Which brings to mind another distinctive voice from that show. Known then as Hans Gudegast he played German Captain Hans Dietrich. He later changed his name to Eric Braedon, known for The Young and the Restless, among many others.

Another distinctive voice no one has mentioned is Patrick McGoohan (Secret Agent Man - John Drake and The Prisoner - Number 6).

Indeed. That’s how I got latched onto watching Y&R. I stopped in the tv/break room at work. One of my friends was in there eating lunch.stopped to talk. The tv was on and seemed most were watching that show. I started watching a few minutes, and saw Captain Dietrich, er um, Victor Newman.
Have been watching on/off since then.
