I am sorry to hear this. I really liked her.

I wonder if scientology doesn't allow you to get medical procedures.

1. Get your colonosopys.
2 Stock up on Vitamin D
3. Stop eating sugar and lose weight.
4. Get the Galleri liquid biopsy test every year.

Most articles mention Cheers or some movies, but I think North and South is when most people learned who she was. She was really good in that.

RIP.

I admired her acceptance of her larger body as she aged.
I don't think of 70 as "old", and yes; she did die tragically young. I think that contributing to her early death. was her weight. She could not have been a healthy eater. She had to have eaten high caloric, high fat foods.
The "Fat Acceptance" movement did her no favors. There are no healthy, obese people. They are being sold a bill of goods that leads to premature death - usually cardiac, or

She was a good actress and I enjoyed her in "Cheers" and another movie "Look Who's Talking" - with John Travolta. I wonder if he introduced her to Scientology. Or the other way around?
She also appeared as a sadistic foster mother on a Lifetime network movie. (I'll try to find the name of it) It really shows her range as an actress. I'd never seen her play a cruel and manipulative person before. She played in well.

I looked forward to seeing her in other projects.

Prayers to her family, especially to her children, were robbed of years with their mother.

I was a college student working at a restaurant in Los Angeles in the late 80's. I recall one day when Kirstie Alley and Parker Stevenson came in for a meal. Later that same year (1989) I attended a taping of Cheers at Paramount Studios.

One of the best sitcoms of the 80's. May she RIP.

I enjoyed watching Kirstie in the Blue & the Grey series, about the North & the South, in the war. Starring Patrick Swayze, Stacy Keach, John Hammond, Julia Duffy, etc

Rest In Peace, Kirstie.

Fortunate for her she did not suffer long. I wonder if it was maybe ovarian cancer. I wish they would disclose the type of cancer...

It was mentioned in the other thread in Current Events that it was colon cancer.

Seems like once you hit about 55 the clock really starts ticking and you never know when something like this can hit.

We just had our 50th HS reunion which put most people around 68. At least 1/3 of the class had passed.

My fave films of hers are Summer School, Madhouse, and Look Who's Talking.

She is right around my parent's age, so this is like losing a 'tv aunt'. Cheers, to Ms. Howe.

I just watched 'Fat Actress', and that turned out to be pretty darn funny. It aired on Showtime, so there is language and a definite R rating! But I'm glad I watched it. What a crazy ride, lol..

I found all 7 episodes free on youtube. (It got cancelled after the first season, though it did end on a high note)
