Hi all,

Fun story incoming:

23rd of December 2020 a guy with a Statefarm insurance hit my parked car a Porsche 911 4S. The car was towed across the city ( LA) to a sketchy Autobody shop called Ameripros.

The car was serviced 2 months before and is in mint condition

They fixed the bodywork and told statefarm the car is ready and they closed the claim.

When I came to pick up the car ( it’s around February 2021) it’s in the back of a warehouse, very dirty and flat battery. Ameripros jumpstarts the car with a truck battery and blows the relays cost 5.000$ - I towe the car to my mechanic.

My mechanic realizes a damaged front differential (4wd cars have two of them front and back). I call statefarm, they say the differential must be damaged from before since the bodyshop didn’t realize it. So I have to open the differential out of pocket (2.000$) and prove that it’s damaged from an impact.

Statefarm sends a handler out without any car mechanical background and l statefarm denies the supplement. New differential plus work 10.000$

It’s may by now, I am paying rental out of pocket 100$ a day since statefarm needs to provide me with a car, but they deny everything.

I call burrow of insurance, the government department and all of a sudden statefarm agreement to take 100% of the accident caused damage but they still won’t pay since they spend all the money that’s on the policy.

It’s July 2021, I spent almost 25.000$ on a car that was in mint condition and got hit while parked in front of my house. I am talking to statefarm and different departments 3 times a week and am having ptsd from how dumb they are.

My insurance is trying to avoid to step in, i am paying insurance for a car I can’t use and I am clueless where to get help.

Anyone experienced similar?

You should have had your own collision insurance to get your car fixed where you wanted it fixed, and let your insurance company subrogate to get reimbursed by State Farm.

Yes, but after I started with statefarm my own insurance didn’t want to step in anymore. Now nobody wants to pay. I am a foreigner from Germany we don’t have these issues.

Also just figuring out the towetruck mafia is something that blew my mind and I don’t understand why this can exist in a country like the USA

All insurance companies do their best to avoid paying out, and when they do pay, it's the minimum they can get away with. That's just the way it is, you are sometimes forced to hire an attorney and threaten or even sue to get satisfaction. I have State Farm myself, and fortunately both times I have been hit it was by uninsured people, so my uninsured motorist coverage kicked in, with no deductible, and they let me choose my own body shop for the repairs.

Since there are no injuries the lawyers don’t really hop onto this. Can anyone recommend a lawyer, I am - as you said - trying to get satisfaction here but also stop bodyshops like Ameripros to keep on fooling people. I sent the bar ( gov department for automotive repairs) to the body shop and I hope they close it down.

I want sue statefarm but the guy who ran into me if this makes sense.

Thanks for the help so far

If State Farm has paid its property damage liability limits, you have a problem.

Any additional recovery you make will depend upon your own insurance. That's where I would focus my efforts.

The only way you'll get a lawyer in this case is if you choose to pay hourly for one. Its likely to be expensive. It may not be a good option.

whose idea is it to haul an expensive car to a repair shop which does shoddy work and it took what 3 months to pick up the car?
Did you say you have spent $25K so far, your could have bought another car,not a Porsche, but a Honda or Nissan or toyota

It sounds like you should go after Ameripros, not Statefarm.

The car was towed there without my permission neither my insurance nor statefarm told me it’s a bad idea. I believe I pay my insurance also to get advice.

Regarding statefarm, not impressed by Dave

Regarding my car choice, if your jealous work harder
