Sorry for posting it on Automotive forum. It seems the insurance section doesn't get much traffic.

I have Geico and my comprehensive deductible is $500.
Some drug addict psycho jumped onto my car and broke my windshield so I need to have it replaced.
Does Geico replace it free of charge or do I have to pay the deductible? Can't find a definitely answer online.
If I have to pay the deductible then it's better to just pay out of pocket.
Does anyone know if Geico replaces windshields at no charge?
Thanks in advance. I'm in NJ by the way.

I think you would have to pay the deductible.

You’re better off just paying to replace it yourself. Most windshields don’t cost anywhere near $500

I have been with GEICO for many years. I have read that in case you have problem with windshield, they will ask you to make an appointment to see if it can be repaired. If it can, it is free.

Depends on what state you're in.

Arkansas, Florida, South Carolina, Kentucky and Massachusetts have zero deductible glass coverage laws. At least for windshields. Some of those states it's all glass, some it's just windshield.

Other states MAY have it.. That's the list I know has it.

Yep glass often has a separate deductible which is likely lower than $500. Check your policy if you have it.

If it were me, I would contact a local glass company 9or two or three) and get some estimates.
Then I would read my policy and find out what is written in it (if anything).
If the policy says the deductible applies to glass replacement, and the estimates were lewss than the deductible, I would get it replaced and pay for it.
If the policy isn't clear (many aren't!), I would call the insurance agent and ask for clarification.
Good luck.

Geico actually offers glass coverage as a policy.. rider? Don't know the details. But, if you don't have that.. it's covered as part of comprehensive, and deductibles would apply. as of a few years ago, at least, that was the comprehensive deductible. There was no separate glass deductible without that rider/option/whatever the term is.

I just paid 160.00 to have the windshield on my Tahoe replaced. They had an OEM replacement and they had an after market replacement. I went for the OEM.
