We have started driving over and parking in the outside economy lot at the airport. I think it is only $10 a night so it is almost as cheap as us having a family member drop us off. $70+tax is cheaper than shuttles. We have gotten back to the airport in early morn like 1 or 2 AM and could take a shuttle out to the truck.

Melbourne Airport

Seeing this post is a year old, I wonder if you are aware of the Melbourne-Orlando Airport with direct flights enabling bypassing Orlando and Sanford Airports. It may cost a dollar or two in ticket price but you will not need to deal with transportation outside of West Melbourne Minton Road.

The Melbourne Airport is addition is fairly new and nice. The Greyhound bus terminal, car rentals, food, and the Hilton Hotel are within arms reach. The airport offers the "Sunflower" program for those needy in special attention.

Almost everybody that flew in for my sons wedding a month ago used Melbourne Airport because of its convenience. It costs usually $50-$100 more than flying out of bigger airports though. They had to change planes to get to Midwest so not nonstop or direct flights. There are just a few airports that you can fly nonstop to from Melbourne. Like Allegiant out of Sanford some of those flights only fly in or out on certain days pf the week. If there is a delay that can be a lot of scrambling to find a flight.

If you have a choice for connecting flights, make sure to leave enough time to get from terminal to terminal in Atlanta. Charlotte is a little easier. I have never opted for any other airports because it seems weird to go to DC or Detroit to get to Indianapolis.

Default To get to the Orlando airport (MCO) from Melbourne

To get to the Orlando airport (MCO) from Melbourne, Florida while keeping costs down, you have a few options:

Public Transportation: Consider taking public transportation as it can be an affordable choice. You can check if there are any bus or shuttle services available from Melbourne to the Orlando airport. Local transit agencies or private shuttle companies may offer such services at a lower cost compared to other modes of transportation.

Shared Rides or Carpooling: Another cost-effective option is to use shared rides or carpooling services. Platforms like Uber, Lyft, or other ride-sharing apps allow you to split the fare with other passengers heading in the same direction. This can help reduce the overall cost of the trip.

Airport Shuttle Services: Some hotels in the Melbourne area offer complimentary or discounted airport shuttle services for their guests. If you are staying at a hotel, check if they provide shuttle transportation to the Orlando airport. This can be a convenient and affordable option.

Friends or Family: If you have friends or family members who can provide you with a ride to the airport, that could be the cheapest option of all. Reach out to them and see if they are available to give you a lift.

Compare Prices: If none of the above options are suitable, you can compare prices from different transportation providers, including taxis and car rental companies. Look for any discounts or promotions that may be available to help lower the cost.

Remember to plan ahead and consider factors like travel time, convenience, and your specific circumstances when choosing the cheapest option.
