Haven’t seen much here lately about living in Boulder. Is it the general consensus that it is a terrible idea? We’re retired, thinking condo in downtown area. We are avid road cyclists and are tired of the near misses here in the southern metro suburbs (now from newbie Ebikers, too). On the surface it would appear Boulder and east of Boulder may offer more room. Is a condo going to be surrounded by weed smokers?

The terrible with Boulder is cost, not weed.

I agree, most people are just priced out these days.

Weed is legal in Colorado. Boulder is a college town. There WILL be weed.

A condo should be affordable. It sounds like you're being realistic about the cost of real estate there. Or maybe a townhouse, if you can swing it.

Condos in Boulder seem to average around 450k in a quick search, but range from around 200k-ish to millions. A lot will depend on how much house is needed, HOA fees, etc.

Our daughter lives in Boulder proper - we go about twice a year to visit her. I would say Boulder is now a city !! Traffic everywhere!! Air quality alerts all the time. Do your research. She and hubby finally bought a single family home there - 1500 sq. feet, a total fixer upper and it cost them $875,000!!!!! Ridiculous!! The hiking trails are soo overcrowded, bikes everywhere, too. You might as well live in DC !!
