We are potentially relocating to Louisville in the spring with our 2 teenagers. We are wondering about the culture at Monarch HS and Centaurus. Our kids are anxious, and I would like to know if these schools have any overall differences that wile make one a better choice. We won’t be able to do open enrollment so we need to buy it rent where we want them to go to school.

Both schools have a lot to offer academically and they will prepare your kids for college.

Monarch is a typical suburban school with all of the resources. It's not a pressure cooker like Fairview though. Monarch offers a lot of dual enrollment classes where students can take U of Colorado classes but on the Monarch campus. I don't think another HS has that, so it's unique.

Centaurus is more diverse economically and racially. They have a full slate of IB and AP classes, but there isn't as many.

I'm familiar with OPRF high school, and I would say Centaurus has similar diversity, but Monarch has similar academics and activities. Hopefully that makes sense.

I read you previous threads about looking in Denver, and I would suggest Monarch. If you want to go full suburban Rock Creek checks all of your boxes, but if you want walk ability to restaurants and shopping I would look close to downtown Louisville. Your budget will be tight close to Louisville.

I really appreciate that insight especially since you know OPRF. Everything you said makes me think Monarch is the way to go. Now, to find a house we can afford. Love Louisville but finding a house will be a challenge. Maybe we will get lucky but as far as finding the size we want I think it may have to be Rock Creek at first. Thanks again!
