What is the deal with Ocean View?

I have a close friend who has lived in Ocean View for several years now. She has never had problems with crime, even when she is on the mainland for a couple months at a time. There are a lot of old school hippie types and other eccentrics living around there. She' at around 2000' elevation. Everything she's tried to grow has succeeded thus far. She has to have her catchment filled a couple times per year. I made this video last time we were there. Shows perhaps 1/4 of her property. Lots of a'a' lava

Been there 2 weeks. Wild, wild, west. Big pickup trucks flying 70 mph through stop signs, wild packs of dogs, theft, difficulties growing in lava.

My suggestions are kook both ways at all intersections, get a 5 ft fence, get security. Use cloth bags in hugelculture setting with free mulch.
