It was good to see that David Lee made it as a reserve but Steph Curry deserved it too. He was the only guy that didn't make it that is averaging over 20ppg.
Well that was ugly...Chicago grabbing boards like crazy, which shows how much the presence of a true big is needed against these kind of teams (Chicago, Memphis, etc).
Bulls are one of the best rebounding teams in the league and they did that with Deng sitting out.
With a healthy Rose, that's a REALLY tough team....not tough enough to get past Miami but definitely good enough to belong in a conference finals.
I think that the pendulum has swung a bit and the east is starting to get the upper hand back from the west as it seems to be a decade or so cycle.
The outcome might have been quite different with Bogut playing and healthy. Honestly, I don't think the pendulum has swung at all. Currently Miami is the elite team with NY and NJ greatly improving, and the Bulls being solid as well especially with Rose. In the West, you have Oklahoma City who in my opinion are the best team in the league and getting better, San Antonio-still holding there own, Clippers-just have to work on their teamwork and rebounding a little more, Memphis-getting better, my Warriors-very close to being elite (once Bogut is healthy it will make a difference but better play from the SF spot will put us up there). then you have teams like Denver that are very competitive. Honestly, the east has closed the gap but the west is still better.
The Spurs have appeared less than their normal great selves as of late and I thought the Warriors would beat them at home. Didn't happen. I've never been impressed with David Lee, but he put up 32 points last night. Bogut is pathetic. Big, injury-prone, and not the type of center that a championship-caliber team needs. He managed 8 points in the losing effort.
Some had the Warriors winning the West this year, and I don't see this. They are a good team, but they have some weak links (like Bogut) and this won't be enough to get them past the better teams.
Entertaining game last night. As exciting as GSW is, I don't see them having enough to get them to a championship series. They can't rely on the inside game to carry them when it is needed. You can't rely on long range jump shots long term.
When I watch the Spurs, I look at the quality of shots they get. Probably the overwhelming majority of shots are wide open or they are shots that play towards a player's strength. It's not overly exciting, but it's effective. They are plug and play. Popovich, Bill Belechick of the NFL's Patriots - cut from the same cloth.
