You should be an international scout. Most of these kids I have never heard of except for Cam Boozer. Obviously he's Carlos' son. Vaguely heard of Kamai Samuels. Have to keep an eye out for these players.

Hmm, there's a thought. I'd love to be a scout, hmm maybe I would create a youtube vlog someday.

Yup he's Carlos' son. Cam has a twin brother but is not nearly as tall. Cam is 6'9 while twin brother Cayden is 6'3 -- but both are in the USA team right now for U16. The original pool of 39 players for this team included other sons of NBA players but just did not make the final roster -- Gilbert Arenas, Trevor Ariza, and Monty Williams.

Right now I'm researching the players for the U19 FIBA World Cup for US. Dylan Harper - son of Ron Harper - is headlining this list. He is currently #2 best player for 2024, as per 247sports. One would think his older brother -- Ron Harper Jr of Rutgers / Raptors - left big shoes to fill but apparently, scouts right now think Dylan could turn out even better. Time will tell.

Many players just do not get opportunities -- money to train in US and get exposed to US college coaches and NBA scouts. And then there is this bias against not-so-athletic players or athletic players but non-black.

Guys like Filip Petrusev is finding hard to get into NBA action but you know he is NBA caliber. For this U16 event going on right now, Lucas Morillo and Karim Lopez can ball at NBA level from what I've seen.

You have Karim Rtail of Lebanon. Watch out for him in the coming U19 World Cup later this month.

Then you have Mason Amos, 18y, of Philippines. And yes, I am adding 2 more Filipinos who were just discovered the past year and hence, have not participated in FIBA in the U16 or even U18 -- SJ Moore and Reinhard Jumamoy - both just recently turned 19y. If these guys have money to train in US, they will likely get scouted by an American coach. Heck, I would put Amos and Moore in the senior's team right away for the senior's World Cup in August, that's how good they are.

A tale of two Karims. Both 6'8, springy, long striders. Are we going to see these guys in NBA?

Karim Rtail of Lebanon (he's more athletic)

Karim Lopez of Mexico (he's a better passer, although not highlighted on this vid)

FIBA U16

US beat bottom team Uruguay in crossover quarterfinals.

Next semifinals. They are up against Puerto Rico for the second time. In US' 4 wins so far, the one that had most success against them scoring/defending is Puerto Rico. But US still beat them by about 30p.

Felipe Quinones is the star of Puerto Rico along with Justin Roman. Quinones is leading the tournament in scoring with 18 a game.

In the other semis it will be Argentina (which US already beat) and Canada (US not faced yet).

I find a stark contrast in Americas and Asia players in outside shooting accuracy. Here in Americas, only 2 players shoot at more than 33% accuracy In Asia, there were 15.

FIBA U16

US beat Puerto Rico in their semi match while Canada beat Argentina in the other semi match.

This sets up the Championship Gold Medal Game tonight. Battle of unbeaten teams Canada v USA. Will Canada offer a semblance of competition or will this be another walk in the park game (30p lead or more) for the tournament favorite USA?

Players to watch for in Canada -- Paul Osaruyi and Kamai Samuels
