I don't want to type it and jinx it, but Joel has been healthy.

It's hard to give Jokic a 3-peat without more playoff success. Giannis has rings and a full trophy case. Why not? I still want him to earn it in those head to head games. I really hope we don't get any DNP-load management by anyone.

Jokic puts up great numbers. But so has Westbrook and Harden in the past. At some point he has to win some titles or I don't see the difference between him and them. Embiid has to prove himself also. If he had won the past 2 MVP's I would be against a 3rd in a row for that very reason.

..........and I jinxed it.

Joel is being held out tonight with a lingering calf injury. As you would expect, betting lines for MVP trending back towards Joker as I type this, could have a new "favorite" by tomorrow.

I am going to say this is a WTF? situation. Embiid played both nights of a back to back before the marquee Denver trip? I would think he would have circled THIS game as "will play" and rested another night to be in this moment. Maybe the injury snuck up on him, but as a fan all I can say is

PPG 24.9, RPG 11.8, APG 9.9.

9.9? Come on Jokic! Don't be a jokic! Step your game up man!

..........and he fell short. In typical Jokic fasion, why average 25/12/10 when you can average 24.something/11.something/9.something.

I'm rarely right on this board, but I did accurately guess that he would not case the stat, and sitting at 9.9 with 5 or 6 games left, he sat for most of them and played sparingly in the others, actually taking his averages down.

So, Embiid will win the MVP, and the Nuggets look like a dumpster fire going to the playoffs.

Well its a big chance he wont get it because its a legendary stat to get. Its really hard to keep up those numbers as the season goes and injuries, fatigue halpens. Had denver been a worse team and every night he plays all 4 quarters to try and win, i think he will get it.

He was at 9.9 after the Philly game. I think he needed to get 4-6 extra assists over the last 6 games to average 10 on the nose. Look at the scrubs the Nuggets went up against? I have little doubt he could have averaged 11 assists in those games (or had one game of 15 assists) had it been a priority.

I also don't believe that he, or any of the other stars, are "injured" in any way right now. In the Philly game Jokic looked completely healthy. "Calf strain" is a load maintenance term; your calves are always a little tight after playing.

They are resting him for the playoffs. It has been a rough 2-3 weeks for Denver, I am interested to see if they get their head on straight, or make an early exit.

They have been resting everyone for the playoff run without any concern for individual awards. It's interesting though. I was talking to a friend who is also a Nuggets fan, and I asked him if, at the start of the season, we would know that the Nuggets won over 50 games and are the #1 seed in the Western Conference, how excited would we be? We would be thrilled! It just feels so odd because they really limped to the finish line, and there is definitely concern that they can just turn it around in the playoffs. They better, because anything less than a trip to the conference finals would be a huge disappointment.

Jokic had a double double by halftime, and the Nuggs are up by 25 with the 4th to go.

Broom time.

Jokic with another triple.

At the 5:46 mark in the 4th period, Timberwolves with 28 free throws shot to five for the Nuggets.

Wow, that's some home cookin'. Too bad the meal is 8 day old stew.
