"The Knicks, meanwhile, are hovering a few games under .500, but that's much better than anyone expected, and also has them in position to chase one of the last playoff spots in the Eastern Conference. In fact, entering Sunday they were in seventh place and just 1.5 games back of fifth. This deal is a clear signal that they're desperate to snap their postseason drought, which dates back to 2013. But while this trade might make sense in the short term, especially as it reunites Thibodeau with one of his favorite players, there are some questions about the long-term ramifications. Specifically, how does Rose's arrival impact rookie guard Immanuel Quickley?
The No. 25 overall pick has been one of the best surprises of the season, but there are already concerns about him being stuck behind veteran guards. Adding another to the mix could further reduce his playing time and hinder his development. If so, is that worth a quick first-round playoff exit?"
I'd have to agree with this assessment. Thibs wants to win right now but it's going to stunt the growth of our building blocks. Quickley, Barrett, Randle, etc.
Okay, so it was only the Pistons but they are beating who they are suppose to beat which is a good thing. I'll take it.
"Of the Knicks’ last eight victories, seven have come against clubs well below .500 (Washington, Houston, Atlanta, Minnesota, Sacramento and Detroit). “Last year those games were a tossup,’’ said first-time All-Star Julius Randle. “This year we’re handling business when we’re supposed to. That’s always encouraging, taking care of what you’re supposed to. It’s definitely helped us get in the position that we’re in right now.’’ Indeed, after seven years as the league’s laughingstocks, the Knicks will take it. Whether they can keep it up when play resumes is another story. The Knicks will open the season’s second half with a four-game road trip that will test their mettle — at Milwaukee, Oklahoma City, Brooklyn and Philadelphia — and won’t play the Garden again until March 18 against Orlando. They are 11-7 at home."
Those games after the break are going to make or break the Knicks. Looking forward to see where they are at.
I think it's safe to say his unemployment will be short-lived. I think he'd be a perfect fit in New Orleans, and could transform their good young team into a Conference Finals contender.
Any thoughts?

Well, so far we are 1-3 in this stretch this far. We had two close games against the Nets and Sixers. Close is only good in horseshoes and hand grenades. Didn't think we would play as well against the Nets, if you looking for moral victories. Milwaukee just killed us! Looking forward to that Orlando game then we have the Sixers again. Fighting to get into playoffs. 8th seed at this point.
Amazing isn't it. Lol. Honestly he has changed the culture here in NY. Other coaches would have been tanking for another worthless high draft pick .
Thibs has done wonders. However, we need another infusion in talent without giving up too many players or draft picks. We beat up on the Wizards last night which I liked.
We fall short against the elite teams. The Lakers, Bucks, Nets, Clippers, etc. Another piece or 2 and Thibs is on to something. Fun to watch, nonetheless.
"You might think the Knicks’ coach, who sees his team play so many close games, who demands maximum effort every minute of those games, might see a game like this 131-113 breeze over the Wizards as an opportunity to give guys like Julius Randle and RJ Barrett the equivalent of some lieu time, let the walk-ons play, maybe have a seat for himself, take a deep breath or three, chill. You might th— … Um … never mind. It’s hard to type any of that with a straight face. We have seen Thibodeau’s work from a distance for a decade and up close for 44 games now, which is more than enough to understand that this is part of the Thibodeau tapestry. There are no nights off. There are no possessions off. There is no garbage time. Not by choice."
“We’re striving to be a 48-minute team,” Thibodeau said when the drubbing of Washington was complete, and he takes that sentence as seriously as a tax audit.

And that's been his downfall. Every team he has coached, the same theme keeps coming up. He works them to death. To the point that the players wear down. You would think ten years later he would have learned SOMETHING by now.

Maybe Rose would have been hurt eventually, we will never know. But when Thibs left Rose late in the 4th quarter leading by double digits and then tore his ACL, that was absolutely unnecessary.
The guy is a good coach but he's not a coach who can win it all.
