Hi There,

I would like to know how to be in a releationship with a kiwi man. I am American and have been somewhat in relationship with one. I would like to know a few things. Is it really just a Kiwi things not to wish someone a good hoilday (like ones celebrated in the states) This Kiwi lives in the USA. But does not ask when you're Birthday is, and when you wish him Happy Birthday, it not acknowledge things like this. But other than that, he is funny, loving, engaging, always want to communicate even though when he feels a matter has been discuss enough it's just over on to something else. It's just these little things that are a bit dishearting.. just wondering if it a custom, up bring, something??? or is he just is not that into to me. Most days our conversations can go all day long .. oh by the way this relationship is not physical at this point, but it may lead to that. Also I read in this fourm somewhere that Kiwi's dont have a formal dateing system or something like that can somone elaberate on that as well? Any info would get great, don't want to spend to much more time barking the wrong tree as it has been a while that this relationship has been cooking.

thanks and just wondering

Sounds like he may have a lack of social skills ? Or is lazy? Neither is good.
Perhaps you should trust your instinct here...you said you are feeling disheartened. That is not a good feeling and i would be reassessing things before they went on too long. All the best

This Post belongs I think to the "relationships" section.

Kiwi men have a tendency to be closed with their emotions and into their mates.

And before the "oh you're generalising' starts, note the tendency part of my statement.

Emotions and kiwi males, hmm, there might be one or two around who talk of their feelings but it is not a kiwi male trait.

I remember that ad!

It's funny but it rings true unfortunately. The city men are slightly better but in general Kiwi men are a pretty reticent bunch.

Perhaps it'd help if the OP didn't refer to this man as "it".

"When you wish him happy birthday, it not acknowledge things like this"...dear god, no wonder he's feeling a bit cold towards you. Sorry I know, I'm terrible.

People in NZ don't wish happyholidays aside from bdays, Xmas and new years though.
