Hello. Who do you think lived her before the Euro-Germanic came here... the Miquons, aka Mingos, Conestogas, and Susquehannas. Pequea means... 'out of the fire'. These early First Nations people burned the village after so many of their people died from the smallpox that they caught from the smallpox laden blankets that they were given in order to wipe them out. Willow Street and Pequea and surrounding communities still have remnants of these original people. Who do you think that the early Euro-Germanic settlers intermarried with - these original people. Remember that the early male Euro immigrants were very superstitious and did not allow women on the same ship that they were on. This area was the summer quarters and Conshohocken was there winter quarters. This is well documented by the Quakers and Swedes. I just moved here and started researching this area out of curiousity. Thank you. Dolores Phifer added by Sparkle
