Remarks: NOT A STRIKE BUT EFFECTED FLIGHT. PILOT STATED HE WAS ABOUT 5-10 FEET FROM TOUCHDOWN WHEN A LRG BIRD FLEW ACROSS HIS WINDSHLD. WITH THE BIRD COVERING HIS ENTIRE WINDSCREEN, THE PILOT REACTED BY QUICKLY MOVING HIS BODY TO THE RT TO AVOID THE BIRD. SUBSEQUENTLY THE A/C'S LEFT WING HIT THE RWY CAUSING THE A/C TO NOSE INTO THE GROUND, SEVERELY DAMAGING THE LEFT WING, COLLAPSING THE LEFT LDG GEAR AND BENDING BOTH PROPELLERS. AIRCRAFT WAS REMOVED FROM RWY BY A CRANE. DAMAGED BEYOND REPAIR.

Remarks: NOT A STRIKE. IT WAS STILL DARK OUT, AT ABOUT 40 KNOTS WE SAW A RABBIT ON THE CENTERLINE AND ABORTED T/O AND TURNED OFF THE WY WITHOUT HITTING IT. WE GOT BACK IN LINE AND TOOK OFF WITHOUT INCIDENT. BUT STILL NOTICED RABBITS ON THE SIDE OF THE RUNWAY BEFORE WE TOOK OFF AGAIN. NO PRIOR REPT OF RABBITS ON RWY FROM TWR.
