Welcome to our 104 acre ranch. We hope to soon be expanding our herd of six alpacas, 3 male and 3 female. One female is already pregnant due in the fall, and we should have at least one new cria or two next summer.
Please call first to stop by for a visit so we can put the coffee on for you.
We now have 30 chickens, some rare breed chickens, that are sharing the pastures with the alpacas and have their own custom made chicken coops.
Alpacas are a gentle animal and the U.S. is looking to get into the textile industry as soon as the national herd is built up enough to support the amount of fleece required to professionaly make lots of product.
Clothing of all types, from socks to evening wear, can be made from alpaca fiber. Also, textiles like rugs and furniture upholstery. The fleece can also be felted, handwoven, spun by hand, crocheted, knitted, or just about any way you can use other yarns or fiber.
5-10 alpacas will exist comfortably on one acre with a shelter of some kind. Once a year shearing in the spring is an event to see. Alpacas are a great 4H animal to have. They are smaller than a llama so easier for a young child to take care of. There are shows all over the U.S. that you can participate in. Call and stop by soon.
