Openned in 1999 and serving highway travlers and local ranchers and hunters.The town of Catarina was founded in 1927 as part of the taft-Catarina ranch headquaters. The Taft catarina ranch was owned by the wife of President Tafts brother. A three story building once located at the Catarina One Stop Store site was moved to the Briscoe ranch and renovated by the ex Governor of Texas Briscoe who still owns a very large ranch and the house. There still exists a hotel built in 1927 in Catarina. A grant from the Texas Water Development Board provided for a new public water system a few years ago and land is readily available in the community. 10 miles south of Asherton Texas and 60 miles north of Laredo the area is well known for its White tail deer hunting.
