- Greetings! My name is Derek Taylor and I am the Director of the Taylor Chiropractic & Laser Center located in the beautiful South End Tennis Club in Torrance. I love what I do and feel I have the greatest job in the world. It is extremely rewarding to help people get healthier and out of pain every day. Here is my story. I was raised in the South Bay. I attended Bishop Montgomery High School in Torrance and played football for four years. During my junior year I injured my back. The pain was so debilitating, I thought I would never play football again. I went to a Chiropractor and he actually made my back worse. I then saw another Chiropractor who used a different approach and my back pain was eliminated. I was so inspired by my results that I decided this is what I wanted to do for the rest of my life…help people get out of pain and get healthier. Shortly after high school, I started taking chiropractic soft tissue courses to help people get out of pain. I began utilizing these skills where I worked as a gym instructor and personal trainer at the West End Tennis & Racquet Club. I enrolled in the Los Angeles College of Chiropractic and graduated Magna Cum Laude in 1993. After chiropractic school, I was hired by one of the largest chiropractic corporations in the state of Ohio and gained a wealth of experience working with a team of 26 doctors of chiropractic. Working in a busy clinic allowed me to see over 100 patients a day at times. It was a great experience, however, due to the high volume of patients I did not have the time to address the deeper causes of their problems, resulting in little improvement to their health. This motivated me to start a lifelong quest to discover the root cause of people’s health problems. Over the past 21 years, I have spent tens of thousands of dollars and hundreds of hours in continuing education seminars and workshops studying how to eliminate the true cause of people’s pain and health problems. I have developed a technique of discovering the true source of your pain that is efficient, painless, and often provides long lasting relief. When you combine the 21 years of experience of eliminating pain with the latest advances in cutting edge technology, you can see incredible results. In fact, you can sum up our practice in a sentence. "Exceptional Techniques + Remarkable Technology = Incredible Results." It's as simple as that. If something is broken, you want it fixed. When it comes to your body, I target the problem that is causing your pain and fix it. I call it "Targeted Treatment". My patients are often surprised to have me work on an area of their body that is in a completely different location from where their pain is located. For example, just yesterday I had a patient that has been suffering with left foot pain for the past 12 months. She was referred to our office from three different people - her real estate agent, her chiropractor and her massage therapist. After an hour exam, we discovered the source of her problem (which was coming from a completely different area of the body) and treated her with: Rapid Release technology, Class IV high powered laser, Rebuilder technology, hydrotherapy and a specific chiropractic adjustment. She left the office with no pain in the foot. I called her later that night and she said she was 'amazed' that her foot was feeling so much better. She could have had her foot worked on 'until the cows came home' but it would not have solved her problem. In fact, sometimes when you treat the area of pain, it can make the problem worse.
