  • Description:
  • Morning Sun was started September 10, 2007, by people with a vision for the continued business and residential renewal of southeast Albuquerque. We are on San Pedro, between Central and Gibson, in the Willow Village Center. Our classroom space is open to Aspiring-Artist's Workshop. These workshops offer the beginning and student artists collaborative opportunities to learn art. Sometimes we will have a master artist's assistance; other times we'll challenge and help each other with mini-lessons and practice. Please visit our website for monthly schedules of classes, workshops, and events: www.morningsun.qwestoffice.net. We have a showroom of Art for sale. Several local artists: Barbara King, Aimee Watters, Joe Trujillo, Thomas Kitts, Stacey Wrona, Emily Haynes, Ken Montoya and Billy Joe Miller show work in here. Their works are in oil, acrylic, watercolor, wood, and photography. We are fortunate to have some watercolors by Gayle fulwyler Smith of Embudo, NM, and metal art by Connie G. Vinson of Clovis, NM. We will continue to provide a pleasing variety that offers original, local art to both collectors and anyone appreciating another's creative handiwork. We are a different type of gallery because we feature new art and vintage art, always one-of-a-kind. The art showroom is open Monday through Saturday, 10:00 to 6:00. We invite individuals and organizations who need to rent a large space (up to 30 adults) for a temporary event, on Friday, Saturday, or Sunday, by the hour or day, to contact us. Our business is a large open space, clean, light, and welcoming. Willow Village Center has ample, safe, free parking, and three very good restaurants: Giovanni's Pizzeria, Taka Sushi, and Saigon Far East. FRIDAY NIGHTS WITH GUITAR: We are open every Friday night, 7:00 to 10:00 PM for the enjoyment of local residents and all art patrons. There is no admission charge to these occasions. We serve free coffee, tea, or hot chocolate. We have live music, with guitarists popping in to play and sing to their hearts' desires. South San Pedro has been in need of this opportunity for an adult gathering without having to worry about parking and driving across town. Our website is continually changing as we feature artists and their works: www.morningsun.qwestoffice.net. Please visit and contact us with questions or comments. We appreciate feedback that helps us understand our customers needs.
