  • Description:
  • The Mountain Arts Network (MAN) is a non-profit organization incorporated in 2006 as a public benefit corporation under the charitable designation 501(c)3. MAN is governed by a Board of Directors. MAN has a community art center open twelve months a year in the San Bernardino Mountain Communities. MAN produces the "MANE Events" which include the Autumn Group Show which is put on in October, the Spring Group Show in April and the Willow Woods Art Festival in August of each year. This outdoor celebration of visual arts has a solid reputation for showcasing the artistic diversity within Sky Forest as well as the artists from the surrounding communities of Cedarpines Park, Lake Arrowhead, Twin Peaks, Blue Jay, Cedar Glen, Crestline, Running Springs, Green Valley Lake, and Yucaipa. Within the small community of Lake Arrowhead, the MANE Event provides an opportunity for artists and audience to meet and share ideas and address the social issues embodied in the art. The audience for these events has been growing steadily both in terms of numbers and geography. At present many of the shows are attracting an audience from throughout the Mountain Communities and into San Bernardino, Riverside, Los Angeles and Orange Counties. It is MAN's belief that this region should have the opportunity to experience quality arts programming without traveling to urban centers like Los Angeles. The audience also enjoys visiting the relaxing splendor of Lake Arrowhead and Lake Gregory. Through their Artists at Work program MAN has, in addition to presenting professional quality arts events, worked with different community groups in the production and development of work. MAN has promoted the work of local artists, as well as provided opportunities for many other local art shows. It has worked with The Institute for Language and Culture and the Crestline Community Development Alliance to bring culturally relevant art to the local area and provided an online art gallery where member artists can display their work from oil paintings, watercolors and sculpture to jewelry, fused glass, woven baskets and engraved gourds. MAN also provides the local school district with scholarships for fine arts students in the Rim of the World School District. At present MAN's principle venue is the Mountain Arts Gallery in Sky Forest which is a membership co-op gallery with 12 artist members. MAN also uses the Burnt Mill Beach Club in Lake Arrowhead for its seasonal group shows where as many as 40 local artists participate and is currently seeking another gallery location in Crestline for their community art center with gallery and studio space and art classrooms. MAN is committed to: present the work of local artists, present a variety of professional quality performers and artists celebrate the ethno cultural diversity of Crestline and establish links with the varied cultures of California, include the artistic expression of the regions school grade children, ensure that a majority of the artists are San Bernardino Mountain residents and educate as well as entertain.
