Initial evaluation to determine patient needs and desired goals. Administer 3min walk, if capable, to evaluate dyspnea index, resting and max heart rates, and oxygen saturation pre/post exercise. 5. Exit evaluation to assess patient’s progress and continued need for therapy. Outpatient Care: Group therapy also facilitating one-on-one guidance. 1. Initial evaluation to determine patient needs and desired goals. Administer 6min walk to evaluate dyspnea index; resting and max heart rates; and oxygen saturation pre/post exercise. 2. Breathing retraining exercises (pursed-lip and diaphragmatic breathing). 3. Stretching and warm-up routines followed by a total of 45min aerobic exercise using stationery bikes and treadmills. 4. Upper body strengthening exercises with ergometer and free weights. 5. Education covering respiratory system, COPD, physical therapy, nutrition, psychosocial issues, medication , and activities of daily living. 6. Exit evaluation to assess patient’s progress and continued need for therapy. | |
