The company opened for business in 1975 as Bill Waldrip Realty. While marketing a development called Pinecrest Homes, Mr. Waldrip took the advice of the builder of the development who thought the real estate company should be larger and have a different name. So Bill Waldrip formed Oxford Realty, which would later become ERA Oxford Realty. Also along the way, Bill Waldrip brought alongside him partners Johnny Montgomery, Randy Tribble, and Jeff Newman. All four owners share a vision of quality growth with agents that care for their clients. In 2003 the ownership of Oxford Realty felt it was time to affiliate with a brand that would provide worldwide exposure, cutting edge technology, and top quality training for new and experienced agents. It was then that Oxford Realty began its relationship with ERA. A few months afterwards the growth continued when the Gardendale office was formed. ERA Oxford Realty merged with Marguerite Smith and her realty company to offer ERA services to the northern Birmingham area. In June 2005, the company's third office was opened in the Greystone area of Hoover on Highway 280. This office provided the quality service of ERA Oxford Realty to the northern Shelby and southern Jefferson County areas. The following year ERA Oxford Realty continued its growth by opening a fourth office in Trussville. The location of this office quickly began to service the eastern side of Jefferson County as well as St. Clair County. ERA Oxford is among the Birmingham area's top producing real estate companies, selling over $144 million in residential property in 2005 and over $148 million in 2006. Although the owners of ERA Oxford Realty are pleased with such strong numbers, they are even more pleased with the way the agents and staff treat buyers and sellers. In 2002 Oxford Realty became affiliated with ERA Global Franchise Systems. ERA Oxford is one of the area's primary brokers for the world's largest relocation network, Cartus.
