- The Corn" Works is located in DeMotte Indiana. We are a family owned and operated business. Dedicated to informing customers that they do have an alternative option of not just heating their home, but keeping warm while protecting the enviroment and saving big money. The CORN Works offers free standing units, boilers, fireplace inserts and furnaces, which are able to heat everything from a small home to a sizeable factory. Some units are even mobile home approved. Depending on the need, the units can put out between 8,000 and about 1 million BTU's. Corn is about half the price of LP and natural gas and heating with corn is also cheaper and plentiful in this area. Wood is not as easy as corn - and corn is a lot cleaner. Compared to burning wood, corn burns 20 percent hotter and burns much cleaner, producing far less ash. Corn stoves also produce more consistent heat without the dryness you get in your home when burning wood. Installation of a corn-burning unit for the residential home is fairly simple, a protective floor covering is needed under the unit, but the corn stove does not require wall protection as most of the corn stove body does not get very hot and therefore can be installed within 4 inches from a wall the exhaust vent is hooked up and can run right through an outside wall. The outside vent looks similiar to a dryer vent. The unit is then plugged into a 110 outlet and filled with corn and is then ready to burn. The units usually only require one filling every 12 to 24 hours, a far cry from a wood-burning stove's needs for refueling.
