Perennial Holistic Wellness Center was founded in 2006 by two friends and patients who understood the need for a safe and clean environment to acquire medical grade cannabis. The founders left successful careers in non-profit fundraising and real estate to pioneer a new industry in Los Angeles. Their original location was a discrete, small and humble office located in the heart of the Sherman Oaks Village. They respected both sides of the medical marijuana argument and were well received by the community and patient base alike because they remained discrete and unobtrusive.
Perennial Holistic Wellness Center is the first dispensary registered in Los Angeles Council District 2 and the fourteenth dispensary registered overall in Los Angeles. Shortly after registering, conflicts in state and federal laws forced the landlord to invalidate the lease leaving their patients without a safe harbor for medication.
Restarting, Expanding and Innovating:
From the beginning, Perennial Holistic’s business philosophy has been rooted in exceptional service, selection, quality and value. Maintaining continuity of service after the unexpected closure proved a monumental task due to the political climate in Los Angeles. Local regulations were changing regularly and property owners were hesitant to lease to anyone involved in the cannabis industry. The founders took this time to develop deeper connections with their sickest patients and use that knowledge to invent strains, edibles and topical creams for their benefit. Rude Boy OG and Holistic Sam’s “Lose a Day Brownie” are some of the innovations created.
In 2010, Los Angeles City Council passed their most stringent ordinance. The city regulated zoning, hours of operation, ensured dispensary management did not have criminal records, amongst other rules. The founders of Perennial Holistic Wellness Center made sure to comply with every requirement and have been very active at City Hall to prove their legitimacy and willingness to cooperate with law makers. Councilman Paul Krekorian even came to do a personal visit of the new store.
The future of Perennial Holistic Wellness Center looks very bright. They have developed deep rooted connections with professional medical cannabis farmers and dispensary operators state wide.
