• Forest Oaks Country Club About Forest Oaks Country Club CONCEPT – Forest Oaks Country Club has been conceived, organized and designed to set a new standard of excellence in country clubs for both the greater Greensboro area and the Southeast. From its inception, Forest Oaks was planned to provide its members with better facilities and better programming, with a congenial atmosphere that offers more opportunity for all around family pleasure at a more reasonable cost per member than any other fine club with comparable facilities in this part of the country. FACILITIES – The club’s expansive facilities include an 18-hole golf course, practice putting greens, driving range, swimming pools (with a beautiful dining and dancing area poolside), tennis courts, an elegant clubhouse complete with formal dining and informal dining areas, 19th hole, pro shop, men’s and women’s locker rooms and many other fine facilities expected in the finest country clubs. GOLF – Forest Oaks championship golf course was designed by Ellis Maples, one of America’s leading golf architects and was completed in 1963. In July 2002 Forest Oaks Country Club, Inc. announced a redesign of the golf course by Love Enterprises and Associates to a “Davis Love, III Signature Golf Course.” The course is fully irrigated and its bent grass greens are approached through Tifsport bermuda grass, tree-lined fairways. Measuring 7,428 yards from the back tees, the course is a delight to the duffer and a challenge to the scratch player. Additional golf facilities include putting greens, driving range and a practice chipping area. A well maintained fleet of golf carts is available for members. SWIMMING – Forest Oaks has two swimming pools – one for the toddlers and little folks and an Olympic-size pool with a large diving area. A full instruction program for both fun and competitive swimming is offered on both a group and individual basis. Poolside facilities include food and beverage service, dressing rooms and bath house services for both adults and children. TENNIS – Forest Oaks has eight tennis courts (six of them lighted, clay courts) built to tournament specifications and maintained to tournament standards. Professional instruction on both an individual and group basis will be available for all age groups. CLUBHOUSE – The clubhouse is a spacious, commodious two-story building containing the pro shop, bag storage, men’s locker room and card room, women’s locker room, swimming locker rooms and swimming pool snack bar on the first floor. The second floor provides the mixed grill, the 19th hole, dining room and private dining rooms. The interior décor has been done in luxurious contemporary furniture and warm colors and has been carpeted throughout. In addition, there are generous patio and deck areas for use when the weather permits. ACTIVITY PROGRAM – Club activities of a varied nature for all age groups are an important part of the concept at Forest Oaks. Activity plans include the traditional serious golf tournaments, such as club championship (both men and ladies), handicap tournaments, etc., while at the same time providing for less serious golf activities, such as scotch foursomes, flag tournaments, etc. for both the casual and serious golfer. Other interests of the membership are also considered and club plans call for frequent activities of a diverse character, i.e., dances, informal parties, bingo, poolside buffets, informal family nights, foreign food nights and other events planned for the enjoyment of the members. Programs for the younger set are under the direction of the teen committee and will include junior golf tournaments, tennis tournaments, swimming parties and dances, as well as many other supervised activities. CONVENIENTLY LOCATED – Forest Oaks is conveniently located in the southeast quadrant of Greensboro, just off Highway 421. Present roads put this location just 7 miles and 15 minutes from downtown Greensboro. MEMBERSHIP – Forest Oaks Country Club is a private club. Its facilities are for the sole use of its member families and their invited and accompanied guests. The club’s facilities and programs are particularly oriented around the whole family. This “family type” club membership requires careful screening of all membership applicants. The club’s membership committee retains the right to accept or reject any and all applicants. Membership in Forest Oaks Country Club is neither a requirement nor special privilege of residence in surrounding estates. MEMBERSHIP CLASSIFICATION RESIDENT – A resident membership includes all privileges of the club for all members of the individual family holding the membership – husband, wife and all children under 26 years of age. SOCIAL – A social membership includes all the rights and privileges outlined under a resident membership with the exception of golf privileges. Golf privileges are NOT extended to social members. Social members do not have a right to sell their memberships. CLUBHOUSE – A clubhouse member has clubhouse privileges only. Golf, tennis and swimming privileges are not extended to clubhouse members. CORPORATE MEMBERSHIPS – Corporate membership is designed for a business. Three designated executives have the option of having Resident or Social memberships. Details on the membership can be obtained from the Club. Corporate members do not have a right to sell their memberships.
