Description:
The Village Anchor and its sister bar The Sea Hag are two of the most eclectic and creative spots in Louisville. Winner of a number of awards, including rated four stars by the Courier Journal, the restaurant represents a European "bistropub" in the heart of the enchanting village of Anchorage, just a couple miles outside of downtown, located on the east end of Louisville. The menu is nearly off the wall with bourbon-glazed pork chops, Charleston shrimp n grits, mom's banana pudding, Myra's fried chicken (best in Louisville), red velvet pancakes with cream cheese filling for Sunday brunch, and the list goes on.
The bars are reminiscent of paris bistros -- very moulin rouge looking. Heavy red velvet drapes, carerra marble tables, lots of copper and stone. The beer taps in the Anchor bar are the original taps from Churchill Down's silks club.
There are 65 bourbons (the restaurant is the only restaurant on the east end to be on the urban bourbon trail); 60 beers; and an amazing array of vodkas. House drinks are $5 a piece, specialty drinks are about $7 or $8. Entree's range from $14 for Kevin's amazing meatloaf burger, on up for filet's and other steaks.
