Simple, Dignified, Inexpensive Cremation and Burial plans available with lifetime membership fee of $40. The prices for the plans are negotiated annually and are greatly discounted from the published fee designated by the Participating Mortuaries. They are always much lower than prices paid by nonmembers.The San Diego Memorial Society also screens all of our Participating Mortuaries before signing them up and continues to monitor them throughout the lifetime of our contract them. We also handle any and all complaints received from our members in writing to get them corrected and if that is not done, the mortuary is removed as one of our participating mortuaries. Our members also receive a newsletter several times each year keeping them up to date on what is going on in the end-of-life industry and updating any changes in our participating mortuary list. We have an annual meeting for our members and an annual End-of-Life Expo which is open to the public at no charge. These are held in April. We are an affiliate of Funeral Consumers Alliance. We are headed by a Board of Directors who are volunteers. We always are in need of volunteers to aid in our continuing our long time relationship with the Hospices and Home Care agencies in San Diego County. We are a non-profit organization and have applied for a 501(c)(3) classification with the IRS which we expect to be approved before the end of 2011.We are highly respected in the end-of-life industry since we have no financial connection with mortuaries, crematories or cemeteries.
