- ADAPT OF SAN ANTONIO mission is to ensure dignity, equality, and opportunity for people with all types of disabilities throughout San Antonio and South Texas. ADAPT OF SAN ANTONIO, advocacy work includes working with Bussiness on ADA Title 111 issue as well as all other areas of disability Law on behalf of people with all types of disabilities, including mobility, hearing, vision, learning and psychological disabilities. Through negotiation and litigation, ADAPT OF SAN ANTONIO is working with facilities throughout San Antonio and South Texas for accessible and will be working to enforced access rights for people with disabilities in many key areas of life, including access to technology, education, employment, transportation and health care. ADAPT OF SAN ANTONIO will engages in non-litigation advocacy throughout San Antonio and South Texas, including research and education projects focused on opening up access to schools, the professions and health care. ADAPT OF SAN ANTONIO will be working to publishes a variety of reports that provide information and guidance on disability rights and obligations of entities as well as statistics that address the status of people with disabilities. These publications will be available for free. ADAPT OF SAN ANTONIO mission is to ensure dignity, equality, and opportunity for people with all types of disabilities throughout San Antonio and South Texas. We can no longer wait for the existing service system to help us achieve our goals. Only we can make it happen! Through direct activism, ADAPT has played a vital role on the national level. Examples are making transportation accessible in a number of cities across the country and the passage of a national personal assistance service program which will provide persons with disabilities with the services they need to live full productive lives in their communities ADAPT is like no other organization of which you may be a member. From the national to the local level, ADAPT has an informal structure. There are no money dues, no membership cards. How do you join? To become involved with ADAPT OF SAN ANTONIO, you must have an active interest in the issue of changing the long term care system, getting people attendant services in the community and getting folks out of nursing homes and other institutions. The key word is active. ADAPT is an activist organization. This means you are willing to give your time and energy to bring about change in the long term care system and to free our people. The only dues are the ones you pay in blood, sweat and tears, but the dignity and pride you receive in return can not be valued.
