He graduated from the University of Washington School of Dentistry in June 1980 and opened a practice in Mill Creek, Washington. After selling that practice in the 1990's he and his family moved to the Methow Valley, where he established Sawtooth Dental Care. Sawtooth Dental is named for the rugged and beautiful Cascade Mountain ridges that separate the Methow Valley from the Chelan Valley. It is a landmark sight in Twisp.
