Notla Water Authority (formerly Notla Water Association) was created and established in 1965 by The Notla Water Authority Act (House Bill No. 1534), as reported in Georgia Laws 1972 Session, Volume Two Pages 3385 through 3402. In the 44 years that Notla Water Authority (NWA) has existed, there have been many changes in Union County. One of the most important change is that residents have the assurance that a safe, quality water supply will always be available for their consumption. Now, as in the past, NWA’s team of dedicated employees and board members are working tirelessly to advance the effectiveness of the system and to provide clean, safe and reliable drinking water. . At the present time, the water system has over 440 miles of main distribution lines. There are eight wells drawing groundwater from unconfined crystalline rock aquifers, with a combined pumping capacity of 800,000 gals/day. The surface water treatment plant located beside Nottely Dam, withdraws water from Lake Nottely for treatment. NWA provides a reliable water supply to over 4892 commercial and residential meters. To continue to operate efficiently, the current and future water needs must be identified and addressed. As such, NWA has constructed two additional groundwater storage tanks totaling 1.5 million gallons of storage within the last year. A ½ million gallon clearwell storage tank was constructed and put into service at the water plant, and an expansion project is underway to increase pumping capacity at both the treatment facility and the raw water intake station. In addition, approximately 50,000 linear feet of main line and a 12” main line lake crossing project were completed. NWA is currently working on a State certified bacteriological testing lab that will enhance the system and offer testing services to residences and surrounding counties. . For a copy of NWA’s annual Consumer Confidence Report (water quality report) you may email Kyle at notlagis@windstream.net. Thank you for your business and continued support. We look forward to providing all of our customers with an excellent quality water supply. You may contact our office with any questions or concerns you may have. . Thank you, .
