- Anchor Publishing Inc produces the Harpswell Anchor, a monthly newspaper, which is directly mailed to all homes in Harpswell, and is also available throughout the greater Brunswick Maine area and at the Maine Tourist Information Centers in Yarmouth and Kittery. Our subscription list goes world-wide. Anchor Publishing also produces books and various other printed media. Our latest book "Tragedy in Casco Bay" tells the story of the mysterious disappearance of the excursion vessel, "Don," with the loss of 34 lives in 1940. "The Adventures of the Bait Barrel Kids" by retired warden Gareth Anderson tells the stories of children growing up in a coastal fishing village during the 1940's and '50's and tales of people he met while employed as a warden with the Maine Department of Inland Fishseries and Wildlife. We are located in historic Harpswell Center near the old town office, built in the 1750's and the Elijah Kellogg Church. During the summer months we operate the Harpswell Information Center to provide visitors with directions to our local sights and services. We publish a local map to assist visitors and other folks to locate the numerous small roads in our town. Our normal office hours are 9AM-2PM; Mondays-Fridays. Arrangements can be made for after hours visits.
