Asian bodywork has long been revered in Asia for its efficacy in treating a wide range of physical and emotional difficulties, and it is rapidly becoming known in the West as a worthy complement or alternative to conventional western approaches to healing. Both Shiatsu and Tui Na can be effective for restoring energy, boosting immunity, relieving physical and emotional tension and stress, increasing flexibility and range of movement, and assisting with chronic and acute pain and strain. They can also be helpful for headaches, digestive difficulties and reproductive disorders. In these therapies, practitioners use finger and hand pressure, mobilizations, and gentle stretching to cultivate vital energy and to promote a balanced flow of vital energy throughout the body. Treatments are tailored to each client's health needs, and always in consultation with the client. Tui Na treatments use a massage table, and Shiatsu treatments generally use a floor mat. Clients should wear comfortable clothes that allow ease of movement. Our experienced, highly trained, therapists are certified by the American Organization of Bodywork Therapies of Asia (AOBTA) and the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM). All therapists are licensed and fully insured. The Cambridge Center and its therapists are committed to the highest standards of professional ethics (in accordance with AOBTA and NCCAOM guidelines).
