- The Colonels Bed & Breakfast was established in 2007 on a 30 pastoral acre horse estate, less then a 15 minute drive to historic downtown Athens, Sanford Stadium, Stegeman Coliseum, University of Georgia (UGA), and The Classic Center. 85 Miles from Atlanta, Hartsfield Jackson International Airport. It provides 7 bedrooms, 3 suites, most with private bath, 6 working fire places, sunken flower garden. It features European antique furniture from Chateau Salmonsart, Belgium, 1794. We host mainly visitors of the UGA, tourists on the Heritage Trails and the famous Antebellum Trail. We cater also to discriminating equestrian enthusiasts traveling with their horses. The Colonels can be your most exquisite wedding or anniversary venue. The estate is equipped with modern amenities and state of the art security and safety features. The goal of The Colonels owners is to create a unique and enjoyable experience in an environment of understated luxury. Provide a level of care that makes you feel like a privileged guest at a working plantation house. While guests enjoy the pastoral site of Angel Oaks Farm, amidst the old terraced cotton fields turned horse pastures, the hosts want to provide the modern accommodation standard you’ve come to expect. The Colonels offers King or Queen Size Beds in most rooms and certain combinations can be offered with a whirlpool bath. All but the antebellum rooms have TV/DVD/VCR, Cable, Fast Speed Internet. All common rooms and the antebellum bedrooms of the mansion have working fireplaces. The two breakfast rooms, a Louis XV music room, and a magnificent full pine country kitchen are open to guests. Telephones are in most rooms and local calls are free, also limited long distance calls. Parking is free on the gated premises and is under permanent camera surveillance.
